Hello Everyone and welcome to my website!

Who are we? 

I'm Alexandrine, a French-born British teacher. I have been teaching English, French and Spanish for over 20 years and have kept improving my teaching methods over time. I have never found a course book I liked so I've been creating my own teaching material - mainly interactive PPTs, to adapt to each student's level, interest and ability.  

Why am I doing this? 

I've noticed that after a while it's easy for a teacher to forget the struggles and fears of every normal language student. You lose the ability to empathise and easily fail to put yourself in your students' shoes. 

This is one of the reasons why I have started to learn Mandarin Chinese. Being a student again is a constant reminder of what you need as a student and it enables me to question myself on a daily basis as a language teacher. Basically, I know your pain !

What can you get from us? 

I'm here to share some tips, experiences and tools about language learning and teaching in English, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.I will adapt my teaching style to what works best for you. Some students prefer a formal, methodical language learning approach, other learn better with a communicative approach.

What do we offer? 

Online tuition: English, French, Spanish. For example, I have helped students prepare for their Alevel/GCSE exams (UK exam system) in Modern Foreign Languages and in English Literature. But the list keeps growing as I have helped medical doctors to prepare for their training abroad, I am creating new courses to help students prepare for the IELTS. 

Proofreading and Translating: Commercial and academic papers. For example, I recently proofread an academic paper on Sepsis in English. I translated a report in the field of engineering from Mandarin to English. 

Language Consultancy Services: Language-related advice especially for businesses. For example, I created team building activities in the target language (Spanish) for a pharmaceutical company. I can advise businesses on exams and other training options. For individuals, sessions can address a personal need, for example: preparing for a work presentation, learning how to discuss issues in a non-confrontational manner, how to be more assertive at work etc...

What do you get? 

Online tuition: Any age, any level. 

• Each lesson is tailor-made according to each student's needs, abilities and centres of interest. For example, I taught French legal vocabulary , business Spanish. Lessons last 30 minutes or one hour. 

• Independent Study Sheet at the end of each lesson recapping on what was covered during the lesson and including suggestions of activities to do before the next lesson. 

• Update reports: you get a verbal and/or written report on your progress on a regular basis. We discuss your goals, strengths and weaknesses, readjust our work plan.

How does it work? 

Online tuition: 

• First we make an appointment for one lesson during which we get to know each other. 

• If after the first lesson we are both happy to carry on working together we book lessons for one month in advance. All regular lessons are booked month by month. You decide how many lessons to have each month and their duration, either 30 minutes or one hour.
